Week 41 - Parallel MD - PS
Injection bumper jitter vs. orbit measurements
G. Sterbini, Y. Wei
In the framework of the LIU-PS, studies are on going to define the technical specification of the new hardware needed for the injection at 2 GeV. In particular it is important to define the specification versus the jitter in amplitude and time of the bumper power supplies. Simulations show that the limit of the time jitter of the new bumpers are quite strict (10 us). The goal of the MD is introduce in a controlled way a time delay in the bumper 42 and to observe its effect on the closed orbit. This will help to benchmark the simulations and, working in close contact with the ABT colleagues, to find the optimal trade-off of the new system.
The MD went fine. We got plenty of data to analyse. The plan is to present and to discuss them in the next LIU-PS meeting.
