Wednesday 08/08 (08:00 - 15:00) - Setting-up of the LHC  beam in the SPS (both transverse and longitudinal)

Change of supercycle => User: LHC25NS

During (the scrubbing run and) the LONG MDs with LHC beam the ZS are RETRACTED / HV to 0 kV / ION TRAPS ON (inform the ZS expert). The cooling circuit for the septa magnets (circuits 214, 414 and 614) should be switched OFF (by TI). Block the fast vacuum valves OUT in the injection and extraction areas (LSS1,LSS2,LSS6

Beam conditions: LHC25NS ( RF MMI pointing to LHC25 - PS USER=LHC25NS) in SPS on Cycle LHCMD25.92-55-270_PDOT_V2 (31.2 s long)

#injections = 1  (12 bunches) - Extraction from the PS w/o QKE58

N_b = 1.3 x 10¹¹ p/b

Transverse emittances (e^* < 3 mm)

Longitudinal emittance: e_L^* = 0.35 eV.s

• Setting-up of transfer and injection (pre-requisite: verify optics settings)
• Adjust kicker timing
• Inject, establish circulating beam
• Setting-up acceleration, measure tunes and chromaticity and correct
• Check instrumentation: BPMs, BCT, Fast BCT, LHC BPM, Head-tail monitor, Wire Scanner, IPM, Tune meas

Wednesday 08/08 (15:00 - 16:00) - Setting-up of the feedback, feed-forward and longitudinal feedback

#injections = 1-2  (72 bunches) - Extraction from the PS w/o QKE58
