Week 45 - Injector Long MD
Pre-requisites:
1) During (the scrubbing run and) the LONG MDs with LHC beam the ZS are RETRACTED / HV to 0 kV / ION TRAPS ON (inform the ZS expert). The cooling circuit for the septa magnets (circuits 214, 414 and 614) should be switched OFF (by TI). Block the fast vacuum valves OUT in the injection and extraction areas (LSS1, LSS2, LSS6).
2) In coast, the scraper status in the SIS should be masked (as there is no update on the coast cycle).
3) When the collimator or the scraper will be moved, the BIC input 8 in BA5 should be masked, as well as the SIS input SPS_SW_PERMIT / BIS_STATE_SPSRING / BIC_SPS_MASK / BIC_BA5_MASK.
- Monday 03/11 (08:00 - 09:00) - Change supercycles in the PS and SPS (OP). The SPS
supercycle will be the 270 GeV/c (called last year: LHCMD25.92-55-270_PDOT_V2,
31.2 s long). The PS beams which will be used in the SPS are LHCINDIV and LHC25 (12 to 72 bunches, i.e. 1 to 6 PSB rings in 2 batches).
Coasts in the SPS at 270 GeV/c will be required during this long MD.
- Monday 03/11 (09:00 - 16:00) – Setting-up (OP, RF, BI and ABP) + 2h // MD in LINAC2 (R. Scrivens)
RF MMI mapping: For the LHC single bunch the
mapping is LHCMONO, while for the others the mapping is LHC25NS
- Monday 03/11 (16:00 - 19:00) – RF studies (E. Shaposhnikova) + 2h // MD in LINAC2 (R. Scrivens)

- Monday 03/11 (19:00 - 20:00) – Access to install the matching monitor camera in BA5 (Thibaut Lefevre)
- Monday 03/11 (20:00 - 21:00) – RF studies (E. Shaposhnikova)

(03:00) – Continuous beta-beat (R. Steinhagen), 1 LHCINDIV (~

* If an intensity change is needed, it will be done in the
PSB and it does not require the intervention of the PS RF experts.
** In case of problems encountered in the PSB or
PS, 4 LHCINDIV bunches could be injected in 4 batches in the SPS.
Remark: beams will be available
for ISOLDE, AD and EAST most of the time. There will be no beams for physics users
on Monday 03/11 between 19:00 and 21:00, and there will no guarantee of beams
on Tuesday 04/11 between 09:00 and 15:00.
