Week 25 - Parallel MD

1) There should always be 1 cycle reserved for parallel studies in the PSB.

2) It is planned at the moment (13/06/08) to switch to a new SPS supercycle (SFT_LONG-3CNGS-LHCPILOT-MD_V1) on Thursday 19/06/08.

3) During the week (when possible) the PS will continue to work on 2 subjects:

3.1) Matrix measurements with the 5-CM PFWs (on MDPS or TSTPS, i.e. 2 BP cycle, R. Steerenberg),

3.2) RF studies on the compatibility between high-intensity and low-intensity LHC beams (H. Damerau).

Monday 16/06 (08:00 - 18:00) - Check that the MD4 beam in the PS (to be used for SPS impedance measurements) is ready

Beam conditions:

#bunches = 1

Nb = Scan from ~ 1.0 x 1010 p/b to ~ 1.0 x 1011 p/b

Transverse emittances: e* ~ 1 mm (we take what the PSB can deliver => Will vary with the vertical shaving)

Longitudinal emittance: eL* ~ 0.15 eVs

Contact person: A. Grudiev

Tuesday 17/06 (08:00 - 13:00) - Setting-up in the SPS of the PS MD4 beam on the LHCFAST cycle

Beam conditions: SPS user = LHCFAST1 (SPS supercycle = SFT-CNGS-LHCFAST2_V2), PS user = MD4 and PSB user = LHCPROBE

#bunches = 1

Nb = Scan from ~ 1.0 x 1010 p/b to ~ 1.0 x 1011 p/b

Transverse emittances: e* ~ 1 mm (we take what the PSB can deliver => Will vary with the vertical shaving)

Longitudinal emittance: eL* ~ 0.15 eVs
