Week 26 - Parallel MD

1) The SPS finally changed its supercycle (to SFT_LONG-3CNGS-LHCFAST-MD37_V1) on Friday 20/06/08.

2) There should always be 1 cycle reserved for parallel studies in the PSB.

3) During the week (when possible) the PS will continue to work on 2 subjects:

3.1) Matrix measurements with the 5-CM PFWs (on MDPS or TSTPS, i.e. 2 BP cycle, R. Steerenberg),

3.2) RF studies on the compatibility between high-intensity and low-intensity LHC beams (H. Damerau).

Monday 23/06 and Tuesday 24/06 (08:00 - 18:00) - Measurement of the SPS longitudinal impedance

Beam conditions: SPS user = MD37 (supercycle = SFT_LONG-3CNGS-LHCFAST-MD37_V1), PS user = MD4 and PSB user = LHCPROBE

#bunches = 1

Nb = San from ~ 1.0 x 1010 p/b to ~ 1.0 x 1011 p/b => Ask Klaus to adjust it in the PSB + the PS RF specialists and A. Grudiev to check that everything is OK in the PS

Transverse emittances: e* ~ 1 mm (we take what the PSB can deliver => Will vary with the vertical shaving)

Longitudinal emittance: eL* ~ 0.15 eVs

Contact person: E. Shaposhnikova

Wednesday 25/06 (08:00 - 11:30) => There will be interventions in the machines between ~ 11:30 and ~ 17:00

PS dedicated MD

Thursday 26/06 (08:00 - 14:00) - Setting-up of the cycle which will be used for the MD "Rephasing of the LHC beam at flat top in the SPS"

Beam conditions: SPS user = LHCFAST (supercycle = SFT_LONG-3CNGS-LHCFAST-MD37_V1), PS user = TSTLHC25 and PSB user = LHC25A

#bunches = 12-48

Nb = 1.3 x 1011 p/b

Transverse emittances: e* £ 3 mm

Longitudinal emittance: eL* = 0.35 eV.s

Contact person: OP

Thursday 26/06 (14:00 - 18:00) and Friday 27/06 (08:00 - 18:00) - Rephasing of the LHC beam at flat top in the SPS

Beam conditions: SPS user = LHCFAST (supercycle = SFT_LONG-3CNGS-LHCFAST-MD37_V1), PS user = TSTLHC25 and PSB user = LHC25A

#bunches = 12-48

Nb = 1.3 x 1011 p/b (the intensity could be decreased by a factor 5 by putting the sieve. In this case inform Heiko to adjust the PS)

Transverse emittances: e* £ 3 mm

Longitudinal emittance: eL* = 0.35 eV.s
