Week 31 - Parallel MD

Reminder 1: There should always be 1 cycle reserved for parallel studies in the PSB => Check during the week the LHC beam with 75 ns bunch spacing in the PSB to be ready for the Injector Long MD of week 33. This beam will be taken by the PS in week 32.

Reminder 2: During the week (when possible) the PS will continue to work on the Matrix measurements with the 5-CM PFWs.

Monday 28/07 (08:00 - 18:00) - Rephasing of the LHC beam at flat top in the SPS

Beam conditions: SPS user = LHCFAST1 (supercycle = SFT_LONG-3CNGS-LHCFAST-MD37_V1), PS user = TSTLHC25 and PSB user = MD2

#bunches = 12

N_b = 1.3 x 10¹¹ p/b (the intensity could be decreased by a factor 5, if needed, by putting the sieve. In this case inform Heiko to adjust the PS)

Transverse emittances: e^* £ 3 mm

Longitudinal emittance: e_L^* = 0.35 eV.s

Wednesday 30/07 (08:00 - 18:00) - Test of the LHC beta-beating application in the SPS + Test of the intensity based interlock flags for LHC injection

Beam conditions: SPS user = LHCFAST1 (supercycle = SFT_LONG-3CNGS-LHCFAST-MD37_V1), PS user = LHC25 and PSB user = LHC25A

#bunches = 12 (1 PSB ring)

Low intensity per bunch (~ 1E10 p/b) => PSB: use the sieve or the relative archive (LHCA+B 1/10 of nominal intensity)

If possible: Tests for the beam to be used for the SPS longitudinal impedance measurements between PSB and PS (PSB user = MD3, PS user = MD4).

Thursday 31/07 (08:00 - 18:00) - h8/h16 PS extractions with CT

Contact person: S. Gilardoni and SPS RF experts. This MD will use one of the nominal CNGS cycles of the supercycle.

Following request from J. Wenninger (24/07/2008)

- Preparation to the LHC injection test (09-10/08/2008).

Beam required: LHCPROBE and/or LHCPILOT on the LHCFAST1. No conflict with the above scheduled MD, if it takes place.
