Week 34 - Parallel MD

Reminder 1: There should always be 1 cycle reserved for parallel studies in the PSB.

Reminder 2: During the week (when possible) the PS will continue to work on the Matrix measurements with the 5-CM PFWs.

Monday 18/08 (08:00 - 14:00) - Rephasing of the LHC beam at flat top in the SPS

Beam conditions: SPS user = LHCFAST1 (supercycle = SFT_LONG-3CNGS-LHCFAST-MD37_V1), PS user = TSTLHC25 and PSB user = LHC25A

#bunches = 12

N_b » 0.6 x 10¹¹ p/b

Transverse emittances: e^* £ 3 mm

Longitudinal emittance: e_L^* = 0.35 eV.s

Monday 18/08 (14:00) to Friday 22/08 (08:00 - 18:00) - Prepare, in the SPS, the beams which will be used for the LHC injection tests of week-end 23-24/08/08

Beam conditions: SPS user = LHCFAST1 (supercycle = SFT_LONG-3CNGS-LHCFAST-MD37_V1)

Beams which will/could be used:

1) LHCPROBE with the new definition (following the first LHC injection tests of week-end 09-10/08/08): 2E9 p/b (instead of 5E9 p/b)

2) LHCPROBE with the new definition (2E9 p/b) composed of 2 bunches spaced by 525 ns (as for TOTEM)

3) LHCPILOT

=> Check in the injector chain the switching between the 3 beams. Discussions ongoing to see whether we reduce the intensity (on LHCPROBE) in the PSB, the PS or the SPS.
