Week 30 - PS dedicated MD

Wednesday 23/07 (08:00 - 12:00) - Study of the losses in the PS during the classical CT extraction (High-intensity and CNGS)

Beam conditions: PS user = SFTPRO or CNGS and PSB user = SFTPRO or CNGS

Contact Person: S. Gilardoni

Wednesday 23/07 (12:00 - 16:00) - 200 MHz voltage calibration

Beam conditions: PS user = SFTPRO or CNGS and PSB user = SFTPRO or CNGS

Contact Person: H. Damerau

Remarks:

- There should be beams delivered to the PS users most of the time.

- There will be no beam delivered to the SPS users => SPS access possible (some access already foreseen: Karsten Kahle and Jean-Pierre Latsague who wish to intervene on the compensator SVC3)

Results:

- There was an intervention in the PSB, which was supposed to take place between 8:30 and 10:00. However, there was a problem of re-start of the PSB (see e-logbook for details), which caused the beam to be successfully injected and accelerated into the PSB no earlier than about 16:00. Therefore, the foreseen PS MDs did not take place.

- When the beam eventually came back, the user LHC25A was used in the PSB to set up the LHC50 beam (A. Findlay and G. Rumolo). Therefore the RF studies on the compatibility between high- and low-intensity LHC beams in the PS, which could have used some time on Wednesday as on a last minute request, did not take place and were continued on the next day, as was originally planned in the MD schedule.
