Minutes of the 1st MD planning meeting held on 03/06/09:

1) Jorg reminded us that the MD planned in week 24 "Delivery of different LHC beams to the SPS in response to dynamic requests from the LHC and/or LHC transfer lines studies" is currently done these days (with 1 LHCPROBE bunch). We let it like that in the planning but less time might be needed as what could be interesting is to have more than 1 batch (and this will be done in dedicated in week 25).

2) Heiko would like to have 1 day in week 24 for the setting-up of the longitudinal coupled-bunch feedback in the PS.

3) Elena mentioned that we might need the "usual" scrubbing run cycle (26 GeV/c flat cycle of 43.2 s = 36 BPs. Beam dump at 42.3 s => Duty cycle of 42.3 / 43.2 = 98%) for the 1st day of the Long Injector MD of week 25 as we might have a lot of eclouds. However, this is not foreseen for the moment and we will see what happens with the nominal LHC cycle.

4) Jorg reminded us that for the MD of Wednesday 17/06 (18:00 - 24:00), one needs (1) to unblock the vacuum valves in the injection and extraction areas (Giovanna Vandoni, TE/VSC, 163269), and (ii) to restart the cooling circuit for the septa magnets circuits 214, 414 and 614 (TI).

5) I will put on the web some infos about the SPS MD cycles.

6) Discussion with Rende and StephaneD after the meeting => INCA MDs will be planned during the PS WE Dedicated MDs of week 31, 39 and 43. I will also ask the Physics Coordinator and OP group Leader to extend the PS WE Dedicated MDs to 17:00 (instead of 16:00).

7) In week 26 and 27, there should be no LHCFAST but the MD segment at 26 GeV/c (setting-up). In this case the SFTPRO might be perturbed due to Eddy currents. After discussion with Karel (after the meeting), we could prepare a MD segment with a momentum increase at the end to have similar Eddy currents on SFTPRO. However, if the MTE cycle is needed then one could put this cycle at the end and there should be no problem => After the meeting, I discussed with Massimo and we planned to try and have the MTE cycle in the SPS in weeks 26 and 27 (tbc as it depends on the results in the PS and in particular the wire scanner measurements which is not working yet).

8) Jorg reminded us that the SPS BPM response is better with 12 bunches than with 1 bunch, which is what is planned to be used for the MD on SPS transverse impedance localization.

9) Friday 10/07 should be reserved to check the LHC beams (on LHCFAST) which will be used for the TI2 tests of the week-end.

10) LHC75 and LHC50 in 1 batch will/should start soon in the PSB => It will be planned as soon as I have the info from the PSB people.

11) Elena would like to have some time for her studies on the 3 coated MBB magnets also during the 2nd and 3rd Long Injector MDs => A new planning will be produced as INCA studies will be moved to the PS WE Dedicated MDs. If more time is still needed (after discussion with Elena) I could then discuss with the Physics Coordinator and OP group Leader to see if some hours could be added to the 2nd and 3rd Long Injector MDs (as UA9 is an approved experiment and all the time is planned during MDs).

12) The setting-up of the ions should be moved to the end of the MD of week 33 instead of the beginning.
