Week 40 - Parallel MD

Reminder 1: There should always be 1 cycle reserved for parallel studies in the PSB and the PS.

Reminder 2: During the whole week (except during the TI2 & 8 tests on Monday), desorption studies on cryogenic targets will take place in the LINAC3 (E. Mahner).

Reminder 3: From October 1st onwards, keep the LHCFAST2 in the supercycle when the MDs are finished, and during the time someone is working on it (R. Giachino).

Monday 28/09 (08:00 - 18:00) - TI2 & 8 tests with ions

Beam conditions: SPS cycle = SFTLONG1 + 4 CNGS1 + LHCION1, PS user = LHCION (MDION is reserved for the nominal beam) and LEIR user = EARLY

SPS user Timing = LHCION1 (LHCION2 is reserved for the dedicated MD)

Contact Person: D. Manglunki

Tuesday 29/09 (08:00 - 18:00) - Approaching the SPS working point close to the 1/2 or integer resonances

Beam conditions: SPS cycle = MD1 (MD segment at 26 GeV/c, 7.2 s) and then LHCFAST2, PS user = LHCINDIV and then TSTLHC25 (12 bunches) and PSB user = LHCINDIV and then LHC25A (1 ring)

Nb ~ 1E10 p/b

Contact Person: J. Wenninger

Wednesday 30/09 (08:00 - 18:00) - Beta-beating in the SPS, and coupling and vertical dispersion correction

Beam conditions: MD segment at 26 GeV/c (6 BP = 7.2 s)

1 PILOT bunch (5E9 p/b) or 12 bunches (from TSTLHC25 in the PS)

Contact Person: R. Tomas

Thursday 01/10

(08:00 - 16:00) - Setup of the LSS6 TPSG in the SPS

Beam conditions: SPS cycle = LHCFAST2, PS user = LHCPROBE and PSB user = LHCPROBE

Contact Person: B. Goddard

(16:00 - 18:00) - SPS ion commissioning

Beam conditions: SPS cycle = LHCION1 (without beam)

Contact Person: D. Jacquet and T. Bohl

During the whole day, a fine tuning of the LHC50 beam will take place in the PS (to be ready for next week dedicated MD)

Contact Person: H. Damerau

Friday 02/10 (08:00 - 18:00) - Check in the PS the 25 / 50 / 75 ns variants to be ready for the Long Injector MD of next week 41. If this does not take the full day, the MD foreseen in week 41 (Generation of LHC beams without switching the beam control) could be started
