Week 44 - Parallel MD (Monday through Friday 1-5/11/2010, from 8h00 to 18h00)

N.B. The parallel MDs take place all the time from 8:00 to 18:00, provided the LHC is in store or does not request beam. The MD cycle can be removed from the supercycle during the LHC filling

Monday - High intensity individual bunch studies in the SPS: longitudinal plane (measurements along the cycle and scan of the 800MHz phase)

Beam conditions:  High intensity version of LHCINDIV on the LHCFAST_L7200_2009_V2  cycle (intensity range according to request)

PS user = MDPS

SPS user = LHCFAST

RF MMI target = LHCMONO

Tuesday and Wednesday  - Optics studies for the change of gamma-transition

Beam conditions and cycle:  Single LHC-type bunch on MD_26_L7200_Q20_V1 for flat bottom studies, or LHCFAST_L7200_2010_Q20_V1 with acceleration. For optics measurements and corrections, 8 bunches of LHC75 half intensity could be requested from the injectors.

PSB user =   LHCINDIV or MDPSB or LHC75 (only Riog 3, nominal or reduced intensity)

PS user = LHCINDIV or MDPS or LHC75

SPS user = MD1 (no acceleration) or LHCFAST3 (with acceleration)

Thursday - Friday - Studies with ions on a || 1 injection cycle

When possible in the PSB and PS, the MD cycle played in the SPS before the ion cycle can be used for some additional // MDs:

Thursday - Friday - High intensity individual bunch studies in the SPS on the MD cycle: longitudinal (scan of the 800MHz phase) and transverse (emittance growth)

Beam conditions:  High intensity version of LHCINDIV on the MD_26_L7200_V1 or MD_26_L7200_Q20_V1 cycle (intensity range according to request)

PSB user =   MDPSB

PS user = MDPS

SPS user = MD1

RF MMI target = LHCMONO

PS (according to availability):

Monday - Friday (slots aimed for are Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday, Friday morning, total 16h) - Longitudinal coupled bunch instabilities in the PS

Beam conditions:  3bp LHC-type beam, with 7 nominal bunches injected from the PSB (instead of the usual 6)

PSB user = LHC25A+B (n.b. LHC25B is a modified version of the nominal one, it needs to have also Ring2 active to completely fill the 7 PS buckets)

PS user = LHC25
